Walker Bay Makes New Upgrades to their 2018 Generation RIB line

Fairfield, CA, September 11, 2017 – Walker Bay Boats makes significant upgrades to the Generation 400 and 450 models, incorporating new design features and improved building technology that was used in creating their top of the line 525 17’ model launched in 2017.  Stefano Rista, President of Walker Bay Boats said, “After we added new ideas into the larger 17’ boat, we wanted to go back to the drawing board to see how we could trickle those improvements down the rest of the line.  The unique construction process of the 525 makes it handle better than other RIBs like it, so it makes sense to incorporate these improvements into the other models.”  In addition to design improvements, the Generation line is now available in three color accent options; classic grey, carbon black and ocean blue.

A Faster, Lighter Performance Hull

Both models are now built using Walker Bay’s proprietary Polyurethane Composite Micro Stringer system making the hull lighter and stronger.  The new Generations also have a unique approach to joining the hull and deck using a unidirectional glass and polyurethane grid bonding system that eliminates the air cavity found in other RIBs.  The result is a stronger hull that better absorbs wave chop, and its lighter weight gives a faster top speed and makes it quick to plane. The 450 hull also now has modified chines that control the lift at high speed while ensuring a smooth and dry ride.

Design and Reinforcement

The stringer manufacturing system allows for a more even integrated distribution load through the hull giving it extra strength when the boat is lifted.  Other areas of reinforcement include the steering arm and telescopic ski pole.  Both models also now have a hull liner that not only improves the integrity and ride of the boat, but provides a smooth clean floor for the rear storage compartments.
