California-based builder Walker Bay Boats recently launched a new 17-foot RIB as part of its Generation line. The model, dubbed the 525, purports to have the qualities of a much larger boat while also being very versatile. Walker Bay says the boat will excel as a vessel for water sports, as a commuter or as a tender.
The boat was built specifically to offer a smooth ride coupled with ease of handling. She’ll also have a strong and durable hull that should be able to take a pounding and remain in good shape. Walker Bay uses a Polyurethane Composite Micro Stringer system, which the company says is stronger and lighter than the plywood stringers more often seen in similar RIBS.
The boat has a roomy cockpit as well as a flip-up bolster seat for the driver. A hydraulic-tilt steering system aids in maneuverability. There’s also a retractable ski post and even a 10-gallon freshwater shower — quite a feature for a boat this size.
